Case Studies
Opus Integrity provide engineering support and services across many different areas of asset integrity management.
Life Extension Assessment
This case study looks at the development and evolution of a life extension assessment process
that was deigned to evaluate the integrity condition, risk and suitability of offshore wells that were
beyond design life and identified for life extension operations.
Critical Failure ERP
This case study looks at a process that was developed for the purpose of identifying and assessing
all the potential integrity failures within a well envelope to determine what the most likely failure or
series of combined failures could be and what impact and consequences those failures could have.
The assessment was the foundation to develop an Emergency Response Plan (ERP) for the well as
a proactive approach so that in the event of any high potential failure evolving there would already
be safe guarding instructions in place to action on.
Conductor integrity
This case study covers how an offshore operator approached the integrity management of platform
well conductors that had suffered long-term external surface deterioration both above and below the
waterline. The visible condition of the conductors, combined with uncertainty surrounding potential
underlying damage, was considered a risk to the asset’s remaining life extension period.
The operator identified a need for corrective actions to improve conductor integrity management over
the platform’s remaining lifecycle.
